Due to the complexity of assessing capacity for patients between the ages 11 – 16 and the issues that this creates for appropriate access for parents/guardians/carers etc by proxy, it is the Practice policy to routinely allow proxy access to patient’s records from birth to 11 years only.
Prescriptions at Wooda Surgery
You can order an NHS repeat prescription from your pharmacy by using the NHS App.
Find out how to get a repeat prescription online, how much prescriptions cost and how your local pharmacist can help you without having to see your GP.
How to order a repeat prescription
The easiest way to order your repeat medication is via the NHS App.
Repeat prescriptions can also be requested on the Internet or put in the prescription letter box on the new office door (located just in side of the surgery).
Repeat prescriptions can be sent to the pharmacy of your choice or can be collected from the surgery.
As from the 17th July 2013 we can send your prescription electronically to the pharmacy of your choice. Please see your pharmacist for more details.
The surgery will process your request within 2 days but please remember to check with your pharmacy about the time that they take to dispense a prescription as this can vary.
Repeat medication is reviewed annually. The date that your next review is due is printed on the prescription side slip.
Please allow 2 full working days for your order to be processed (Monday – Friday).
Important
Nominating a pharmacy
When you order a repeat prescription online, you will have to nominate a pharmacy to prepare your prescription and for you to pick it up from.
You can nominate a pharmacy by using the NHS App or logging into the NHS website using a web browser. A high street pharmacy is where you collect your prescriptions in person. If you have chosen an online-only pharmacy, then they will send your prescription in the post.
If you order your prescription online:
- You will no longer need to collect paper prescriptions from our surgery.
- Your nominated pharmacy will have your prescriptions ready to collect until you change or remove them.
For more information about nominating a pharmacy, visit the Nominate a Pharmacy page on the NHS website.
How your pharmacy can help
Pharmacists are qualified healthcare professionals who can help you with minor health concerns. They can offer medical advice and over-the-counter medicines for minor illnesses like coughs, colds, tummy problems and aches and pains.
For symptoms that are more serious, we suggest visiting your GP or nurse. You can book an appointment by going to our Appointments page.
Prescription charges
The NHS prescription charges apply to England only. These are:
- Prescription (per item): £9.65

- 3-month PPC: £31.25.
The Government provides help for those who have difficulty paying NHS prescriptions. You can find out more about whether you’re entitled to support from the Government on the NHS Prescription charges page on the NHS website.

HRT Prepayment Certificates
Good news! The huge cost of HRT (hormone replacement therapy) for women has finally been recognised by the government, and from 1st April, women can apply for a pre-payment certificate to cover their HRT products for a year. This will cost £19.30 for the year.
Your HRT prescription needs to be kept separate from your other prescriptions in order to honour this certificate, but your prescriber will sort this for you!
